what to expect on your first visit
HFC is a simple church with a simple desire to build authentic relationships and proclaim an authentic gospel. We are very much a “what you see is what you get” kind of assembly. You won’t find a lot of empty flash or attractional razzle-dazzle here, and that’s on purpose. We simply preach Christ crucified, do life together, and cultivate opportunities to join God on His mission to reach Rainbow City, the Greater Gadsden area, Etowah County, and the world with the hope of the gospel.
As a guest, your presence here at Harvestfield Church is a really big deal to us! We strive to treat every person the Lord leads into our midst as a gift from Him. When you visit HFC, you can expect our Host Team to welcome you with a smile and a friendly handshake as you head inside. If it’s raining, one of our hosts will meet you at your car with an umbrella to help you stay dry on your way to the door. The Host Team will also be happy to show you to the Worship Center or the HFC Kids wing where you can check in your little ones. (You’re always welcome to bring infants and children of any age into Large Group with you if you like.) When worship begins, you can expect to hear the gospel of Christ worshipfully proclaimed through song and expository preaching. Large Group services are about an hour in length, and we always end with an informal invitation to chat or pray with our elders and staff rather than a traditional altar call.
We expect guests every time we gather, and we are genuinely excited to meet you and your family!

questions and answers
We understand that visiting a church for the first time can be stressful and intimidating, especially for families with young children, so we’ve tried to answer some of the questions that might be running through your mind in order to help your first experience as our guest go a little more smoothly. If you have any questions we haven’t answered here, please feel free to contact us.
where is hfc located?
Harvestfield Church is located at 4533 Rainbow Drive, Rainbow City, AL 35906. HFC is near Southside and just a short drive away from Gadsden, Attalla, Ashville, Glencoe, Hokes Bluff, and all other areas local to Etowah County, Alabama. Get directions from wherever you’re coming from, and come worship with us this week!
what time does worship start?
HFC gathers for worship on Sundays at 10:30am and Wednesdays at 6:00pm. Both Large Group services last about an hour, and childcare is provided. Many people arrive early to fellowship in The Blend (our coffee bar), which offers a small selection of refreshments at a minimal cost. If you’ll let us know you’re coming, we’ll be sure to keep an eye out for you!
does hfc livestream services?
Yep! If you’re unable to join us in person or just want to check things out from a distance before your first visit to HFC, you’re welcome to gather with us online via YouTube Live on Sundays at 10:30am and Wednesdays at 6:00pm. If you want, drop a comment in the chat to let us know you’re there!
where should i park?
You can park anywhere you’d like! The main entrance (by the breezeway) is the best place to enter the building on your first visit to HFC, so you may find it more convenient to park on that side of the building. If it’s raining, feel free to unload your family under the breezeway awning before you park. Someone from our Host Team will gladly meet you at your car with an umbrella to help keep you dry on your way inside.
how will i find my way around?
Whether you’re looking for the HFC Kids check-in stations, the Student Building, the Worship Center, or just a restroom, our Host Team will be happy to point you in the right direction. Just ask someone with a nametag to show you where to go. You can also take a virtual tour of HFC right from your computer or mobile device to learn your way around before your visit!
what should i wear?
HFC is about as relaxed and informal as a church can be. At any given service, you’ll see blue jeans and dresses, T-shirts and button-ups, and everything else in between. You might even spot a few people with tattoos or nose rings. Pretty much everyone dresses casually and comfortably, and we invite you do the same. Aside from pursuing modesty, please don’t worry about what to wear!
will i be put on the spot in any way?
Not at all! We never put our guests on the spot or call them out in any way whatsoever. If you’d like to build some connection with HFC, you’ll have an opportunity to turn in a Connection Card after the service. You can also fill out a Connection Card online before or during your visit. No pressure either way!
what about my kids?
Kids of any age are always welcome to worship alongside their parents at Large Group services on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights, but we also offer weekly discipleship experiences tailored to kids by age and grade level. Our Children’s Minister and her team of adult Disciple Makers would love for you to check out HFC Kids and get your kiddos plugged in!
is hfc a safe place for my kids?
The safety and security of your child are of the utmost importance to us! Here are some of the measures we’ve taken to help ensure the well-being of kids at HFC:
- When you check in your child at HFC Kids, you’ll receive a numbered security tag that identifies you as your child’s parent/guardian. You’ll be asked to present your security tag when you return for check-out. This system helps us ensure that each child left in our care is released to the right adult.
- All HFC Kids staff and volunteers are required to undergo a thorough screening process that includes a criminal background check before they’re allowed to serve in close proximity to children.
- Each HFC Kids ministry environment is supervised by a minimum of two or more approved adults.
- Every classroom door is equipped with a vision panel for parent observation. Our preschool classrooms also have one-way observation windows that allow you to look in on your littles without disrupting them.
- The electrical outlets in the nursery and preschool classrooms are all equipped with plastic safety covers and positioned outside the reach of crawlers and toddlers.
- You will have an opportunity to communicate your child’s allergies, special needs, and other concerns at check-in.
- Our trained Security Team keeps careful watch over the HFC Kids wing during all Large Group gatherings and special events.
If you’d like to make your first visit to HFC a bit less hurried and give our leaders some insight as to how they can best minister to your littles, we encourage you to pre-register your child for HFC Kids.
what about my teenagers?
On Sunday mornings, HFC Students invites 6th-12th graders to gather with the rest of the congregation for Large Group. We encourage teenagers to sit with their families during the service because we believe that singing the gospel and opening the Scriptures alongside their parents can make a significant, lifelong impact on their spiritual formation. On Wednesday nights during Large Group, HFC Students offers 6th-12th graders a worship gathering designed with them in mind, complete with a live worship band, relevant biblical preaching, and interactive discussion in small groups. Our Student Minister and his team of adult Disciple Makers invite you to check out HFC Students and get your teenager plugged in!
what denomination is hfc?
Harvestfield Church is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention. We affirm The Baptist Faith & Message 2000 with a few nuanced distinctions specific to HFC that aren’t typically normative for most Southern Baptist churches in Etowah County. We invite you to learn more about what we believe, and if you need clarification regarding our position on specific theological or doctrinal matters, please feel free to contact us.
what is hfc's music and preaching like?
In short, we strive to sing the authentic gospel and preach the authentic gospel. Our Worship Team selects music that emphasizes sound doctrine and adoration of Christ Jesus. They aim to play skillfully without turning worship into a performance that takes the spotlight off of Christ to place it upon man. We utilize a variety of instruments to proclaim the gospel through song, including drums, electric guitar, bass guitar, keyboard, etc. In our preaching, we hold to a high view of the Scriptures, trusting in God’s ability to work through His Word to cut faith and repentance upon a person’s heart. We practice expository preaching and place great emphasis upon carefully drawing out the original, contextual meaning of a biblical passage and exposing any gospel-centered implications relevant to life today. You will NEVER hear messages of moralistic self-improvement or a counterfeit “gospel” of health, wealth, and prosperity preached at HFC. If you want, you can watch a recent service or two online before you come for the first time. When you’re ready to visit in person, we encourage you to bring a physical copy of the Bible (we typically preach from the English Standard Version) and arrive prepared to work hard in the Scriptures.
we’re excited to meet you!
We’re always praying that the Lord would lead people into our midst who desire to grow in Christ and reach others with the gospel. We know that there are a number of solid churches in the Gadsden area to choose from, so we’re thankful that you’re planning to visit Harvestfield Church. We’re looking forward to welcoming you to HFC and getting to know you and your family as you check things out.
