hfc kids activities & events
At HFC Kids, every child has a place to belong and encounter the gospel! While kids of any age are always welcome to worship alongside their parents on Sundays and Wednesdays, HFC Kids provides weekly discipleship experiences and special events tailored to kids by age and grade level.
Every Sunday morning beginning at 10:30am, HFC Kids offers fun, Bible-focused, Christ-centered gatherings in welcoming, safe, age-specific environments. Infants and K1-K5 children gather in our preschool area where babies receive attentive care in our dedicated nursery while preschoolers enjoy music, coloring/crafts, creative play, a snack, and a Bible story in their own rooms. K-2nd grade children and 3rd-5th grade children gather in separate areas where they experience worship through song and fun, interactive Bible studies designed to help them engage the truths of God's Word on their level.
Here's what a typical Sunday morning looks like at HFC Kids:
CHECK-IN/DROP-OFF
Parents accompany their children to one of the check-in stations to sign them in, drop them off with our vetted team of caring adult leaders, and receive a numbered security tag.
PRE-SESSION
As children arrive, they enjoy fun games and activities, share time together with their friends, and build relationships with their teachers.
WORSHIP
Children are led in gospel-centered worship through song by talented live musicians.
LESSON
Our teachers present a gospel-centered message from the Bible using the Gospel Light curriculum, which is designed to guide kids to a deeper understanding of Jesus through mentoring relationships with teachers and parents with a strong emphasis on evangelism and discipleship. Our curriculum is structured to take children through the Bible five times by the time they complete 5th grade.
CHECK-OUT/PICK-UP
Parents return to the check-in stations to present their security tag, pick up their children, and receive materials for at-home discipleship.
Every Wednesday night beginning at 6:00pm, HFC Kids Midweek offers children an opportunity to have fun and learn about following Jesus. Infants and K1-K5 children gather in our preschool area where babies receive attentive care in our dedicated nursery while preschoolers enjoy music, coloring/crafts, creative play, a snack, and a Bible story in their own room. K-5th grade children gather in the main HFC Kids room where they experience worship through song and fun, interactive Bible lessons designed to help them grow in their understanding of biblical truths and apply them to everyday life.

LESSON
Our teachers present a gospel-centered message from the Bible using the Discipleship Jr. curriculum, which is designed to harness the power of fun to build young disciples by leading them to interact with biblical truths and one another. Midweek's lesson time is occasionally utilized to offer children an opportunity to participate in mission projects.

What happens every day at home has the potential to impact a child's faith formation much more than what happens during our Sunday and Wednesday gatherings at HFC Kids. Bringing kids to church is critically important, but the two hours a week they'll spend at Harvestfield Church is a drop in the bucket compared to the many hours God has given parents each week to influence and disciple them. That being said, we recognize that the primary time and place God has ordained for shaping the faith of children is every day at home. That's what God communicates to parents in this passage:
And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. - Deuteronomy 6:6-7 ESV
Parents are called by God to be the primary disciple-makers in the lives of their children. This is a privileged yet enormous responsibility that causes many parents to feel ill-equipped and overwhelmed. That's why HFC Kids is committed to supporting, equipping, and encouraging parents along the way.
Here are some of the ways we partner with parents in discipling children at HFC Kids:
AT-HOME DISCIPLESHIP MATERIALS
Besides providing weekly experiences for children designed to supplement what they're learning from their parents, we also come alongside moms and dads by offering weekly materials for at-home discipleship. These materials may be picked up at all HFC Kids check-in stations.
CURATED PARENT RESOURCES
We maintain a running list of curated parenting resources, gospel-centered children's books, and helpful discipleship tools.
CONVERSATIONS & MEETINGS
When parents have a theological question, need encouragement, or want to talk about a specific parenting issue, we make ourselves available to talk with them by phone or meet with them in person.
HFC Kids offers a number of special events at various times throughout the year. Each event is planned with a unique and worthwhile purpose that's always rooted in helping children encounter the gospel by interacting with God's Word and God's people.
Here are some of the special events sponsored by HFC Kids:
FAMILY WORSHIP SUNDAYS
Every fifth Sunday, HFC Kids pauses regular weekly activities to give kids an opportunity to worship alongside their parents and the rest of the church body in a service designed for the whole family.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
Each summer, HFC Kids invites children from all over Etowah County to come to VBS where they'll experience a fun-filled week of games, worship, and gospel-centered Bible study.
HARVESTFEST
In the fall, HFC Kids hosts Harvestfest, a family-friendly fall festival complete with food, games, candy, costumes, and a fun opportunity for kids and parents to connect with one another and the rest of church body.

Your child's safety and security is of the utmost importance to us! Here are some of the measures we've taken at Harvestfield Church to help ensure the well-being of your kids:
1) When you check in your child at HFC Kids, you'll receive a numbered security tag that identifies you as the parent/guardian of your child and that must be presented at check-out/pick-up in order to ensure that your child goes home only with you. 2) We require all children's ministry staff and volunteers to undergo a thorough criminal background check and training process before being allowed to supervise kids. 3) We require a minimum of two adults in every classroom. 4) The electrical outlets in the nursery and preschool rooms are all positioned out of your child's reach and equipped with plastic outlet covers. 5) Every classroom door has a viewing window to keep kids and leaders in sight at all times. 6) You will have an opportunity to communicate your child's allergies, dietary restrictions, special needs, etc. to our children's ministry staff and volunteers at check-in/drop-off. 7) Our trained security team keeps careful watch over the HFC Kids wing during all gatherings and special events.
