the gospel

We want you to know the authentic gospel we strive to proclaim at Harvestfield Church in Rainbow City, AL. It's our prayer that every sinner who encounters this good news might turn from sin, believe upon Christ, and follow Him.

what is the gospel?

God is the holy, just, and gracious Creator of all things, including us. He has the right to tell us how to live. To reject and rebel against God's authority is to sin against Him. God will not ignore sin and leave the guilty unpunished. (Genesis 1:1; Romans 1:18-20, 2:1-16, 3:22-241 John 1:5; Revelation 4:11)

Because the first man and woman rejected God, sin has corrupted every part of our human existence. Our entire being is under sin's power. The penalty of sin is both physical and spiritual death. Our final destiny is eternal, active judgment in hell. (Genesis 1:26-28; Psalm 51:5; Romans 1:21-25, 3:9-20, 3:23, 6:23; Ephesians 2:1-3)

Christ Jesus is fully God and fully man. He lived a sinless life and died sacrificially on the cross in the place of His people, paying sin's penalty on their behalf. He rose from the dead, assuring us that His propitiatory sacrifice was acceptable to God. Jesus Christ alone is able to free us from the penalty and power of sin and reconcile us to God through His death and resurrection. He alone satisfies the wrath of God in the place of sinners who place their faith in His finished work. (John 1:1Romans 3:21-26, 4:25, 5:6-10, 5:18, 8:1-41 Corinthians 15:20-222 Corinthians 5:211 Timothy 2:5; Hebrews 7:26)

There is nothing we can do to become right with God. We are reconciled to God only through faith in Jesus and what He has done on our behalf. When we repent and believe on Jesus, all of our sin is placed upon Christ, and the perfect life Jesus lived is credited to us. After responding to the gospel through faith and repentance, Christians are baptized publicly as an outward expression of the inward transformation that God has begun in them. (Mark 1:15; Acts 20:21; Romans 1:17, 3:20-31, 4:22-25, 6:11-14, 8:10-11, 10:9-13)

respond to the gospel

Do you see yourself as a sinner who stands guilty before God? Do you see Christ Jesus as the Savior who laid His life down in your place as a perfect sacrifice for your sin, trading you His righteousness in exchange for your unrighteousness?

If so, God is calling you to turn from your sin, trust in the finished work of Christ, publicly confess Jesus as Lord through baptism, and follow after Him. Respond to God in prayer, and reach out when you're ready to start a conversation with the elders/staff about going public with your faith through baptism.
