what to expect when you visit
HFC is a simple church with a simple desire to build AUTHENTIC RELATIONSHIPS and proclaim an AUTHENTIC GOSPEL. That being said, we are very much a "what you see is what you get" kind of assembly. You won't find a lot of empty entertainment or razzle-dazzle here, and that's on purpose. We simply preach Christ crucified, do life together, and seek opportunities to join God on His mission to reach Rainbow City, the Greater Gadsden area, Etowah County, and the world with the hope of the gospel.
Your presence here at Harvestfield Church is a BIG deal to us! We strive to treat every person the Lord leads into our midst as a gift from Him. When you visit HFC, you can expect our host team to welcome you with a smile and a friendly handshake as you head inside. If it's raining, one of our hosts will meet you at your car with an umbrella to help you stay dry on your way to the door. The host team will also be happy to answer any questions you have and help you find your way to the worship center or the HFC Kids wing to check in your little ones. (You're also welcome to bring infants and children of any age into worship with you if you like.) When worship begins, you can expect to hear the gospel of Christ proclaimed through song and passionate, expository preaching. Services are about an hour in length, and they always end with an informal invitation to chat or pray with our elders and staff rather than a traditional altar call.
We expect guests every time we gather, and we are truly excited to meet you and your family!

questions & answers
We understand that visiting a church for the first time can be stressful and intimidating, especially for families with young children, so we've tried to answer some of the questions that might be running through your mind in order to help your first experience as our guest go a little more smoothly. If you have any questions we haven't answered here, please feel free to contact us.

We gather for worship on Sundays at 10:30am and Wednesdays at 6:00pm. Both services last a little over an hour. Many people arrive 15-30 minutes early to fellowship in The Blend (our coffee bar), which offers a small selection of refreshments at a minimal cost.
Yep! If you're unable to join us in person or just want to check things out from a distance before your first visit, you're welcome to join us online via YouTube Live on Sundays at 10:30am and Wednesdays at 6:00pm. Be sure to drop a comment in the chat to let us know you're there!
You can park anywhere you'd like! The main entrance (by the breezeway) is the best place to enter the building on your first visit, so you may find it more convenient to park on that side of the building. If it's raining, feel free to unload your family under the breezeway awning before you park. Someone from our host team will gladly meet you at your car with an umbrella to help keep you dry on your way inside.
Whether you're looking for the nursery, the HFC Kids wing, the student building, the worship center, or just a restroom, our host team will be happy to point you in the right direction. Just look for someone with a nametag and ask them to show you where to go. You can also take a virtual tour of HFC right from your computer or mobile device.
We're about as relaxed and informal as a church can be. At any given service, you'll see blue jeans and dresses, T-shirts and button-ups, and everything else in between. You might even spot a few people with tattoos or nose rings. Pretty much everyone dresses casually and comfortably, and we invite you do the same. Please don't worry about what to wear!
Kids of any age are always welcome to worship alongside their parents on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights, but we do offer weekly discipleship experiences tailored to kids by age and grade level.
On Sunday mornings, infants and K1-K5 preschoolers, K-2nd graders, and 3rd-5th graders can enjoy fun, Bible-focused, Christ-centered gatherings in welcoming, safe, age-specific environments.
On Wednesday nights, HFC Kids Midweek offers infants, K1-K5 children, and K-5th grade children an opportunity to have fun and learn about following Jesus.
Our children's minister and her team of adult volunteers are looking forward to meeting you and your kiddos!
The safety and security of your child is of the utmost importance to us! Here are some of the measures we've taken at Harvestfield Church to help ensure the well-being of your kids:
1) When you check in your child at HFC Kids, you'll receive a numbered security tag that identifies you as the parent/guardian of your child and that must be presented at check-out/pick-up in order to retrieve your child. 2) We require all children's ministry staff and volunteers to undergo a thorough criminal background check and training process before being allowed to supervise kids. 3) We require a minimum of two adults in every classroom. 4) The electrical outlets in the nursery and preschool rooms are all positioned out of your child's reach and equipped with plastic outlet covers. 5) Every classroom door has a viewing window to keep kids and leaders in sight at all times. 6) You will have an opportunity to communicate your child's allergies, dietary restrictions, special needs, etc. to our children's ministry staff and volunteers at check-in/drop-off. 7) Our trained security team keeps careful watch over the HFC Kids wing during all gatherings and special events.
If you'd like to speed up the check-in/drop-off process, make your first visit to HFC a bit less hurried, and give our children's ministry staff and volunteers some insight as to how they can best minister to your little ones, we encourage you to pre-register your child for HFC Kids.
On Sunday mornings, 6th-12th grade students gather in the worship center with the rest of the church body. We encourage teenagers to sit with their families during the service because we believe that singing the gospel and opening the Scriptures alongside their parents can make a significant, lifelong impact on students' spiritual formation.
On Wednesday nights, HFC Students Midweek offers 6th-12th graders a worship gathering designed with them in mind. All students meet in the student building for games and worship and then divide into middle school (MSM) and high school (HSM) for separate Bible study sessions and small group breakouts.
Our student pastor, middle school minister, and adult small group leaders are excited to meet you and your student!
Not at all! We never put our guests on the spot or call them out in any way whatsoever. You won't be asked to stand up and introduce yourself or be forced into an awkward meet-and-greet time. We promise! If you'd like to build some connection with HFC, you'll have an opportunity to turn in a Connection Card after the service. You can also fill out a Connection Card online before or during your visit. No pressure either way!
Harvestfield Church is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention. We affirm The Baptist Faith & Message (2000) with a few specific nuances that are not typically normative for most Southern Baptist churches in Etowah County.
In short, we strive to sing the authentic gospel and preach the authentic gospel.
Our worship team selects music that emphasizes sound doctrine and adoration of Christ Jesus. They aim to play skillfully without turning worship into a performance that takes the spotlight off of Christ to place it upon man. We utilize a variety of instruments to proclaim the gospel through song, including drums, electric guitar, bass guitar, violin, keyboard, etc.
In our preaching, we hold to a high view of the Scriptures and trust in God's ability to work through His Word to cut faith and repentance upon a person's heart. We practice expository preaching and place great emphasis upon carefully drawing out the original, contextual meaning of a biblical passage and exposing any gospel-centered implications relevant to life today. You will NEVER hear a "gospel" of moralistic self-improvement or health, wealth, and prosperity preached at Harvestfield Church. We strongly encourage you to bring a physical copy of the Bible (we typically preach from the English Standard Version) and come ready to work hard in the Scriptures.
